Reiner Aichholz was born in Germany in 1957 and developed a great fascination for nature as a teenager. His hobbies at that time were collecting lichens for his herbarium and taking microbiological samples for microscopy.
At the age of 20, he bought his first camera and became passionate about travel photography. After studying chemistry, he moved to Basel (Switzerland) in 1990.
2012 marked the beginning of digital photography for him and thus a more intense involvement with the subject of photography. He mainly photographs nature and landscapes in Europe. On trips around the globe, he also photographs local people and takes snapshots of their daily life.
